Astrology Numerology - What do the numbers predict for you?

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Monday 8 February 2010 12:33 pm

We all seem to have a number that follows us around, don’t we? First, we don’t pay much attention to it then after seeing it everywhere we try to attach some importance to it and find some meaning to it. Why do I often see the same number everywhere I look? Maybe the numerology, (one of many beliefs in a mystical or esoteric relationship between numbers and physical objects or living things) will reveal to you some things that have gone unnoticed.

numerology

Again this number! What does it mean? Maybe it’s because someone is thinking of me, or a warning signal, or an inner spiritual experience, or even telepathy. Who knows? It can not be a coincidence! Some interpret these appearances as codes that reveal things, because the numbers are the embodiment of perfection. Pythagoras, a Greek philosopher and mathematician, is not only known for his theorem, but also as the father of the science of numbers. He said that “The world is built on the power of numbers. The Hindus also considered it a sacred science and the Hebrews linked them with the cosmic forces.

Astrology Numerology tries to make the numbers talk to us. According to this, each one has its own symbolism. It is like tarot, palmistry or astrology: it is a metaphysics “science” that tries to see beyond, to give some meaning to facts and even define someone’s personality. Knowing the date of a person’s birth and his/her full name, you can know his character, his inner world, his destiny, his natural talents and his spiritual challenges.

One of the most common things is to sum up the figures of the date of birth, we take an example: someone who was born on 04/03/1998 will have the number 7 (4 +3 +1 +9 +9 +8 = 34. 3 +4 = 7), a symbol of intellect, of idealism. He will be defined as a lovely person, lover of solitude and the peace and as a perfectionist. Also, if the figures add up to the date of birth to the current year, we can know the numerology meaning of the year for everyone.

What if all this is a superstitious myth? How can a number help me? Maybe it’s just an invention of man to help them in their lives, to give them more strength and more security. The important thing is that you agree with yourself. Numerology meaning may not be an exact science, but it may give us clues. Life is never predictable.

If you give importance to the numbers or not, it just depends on you: choose a date and travel for a few days. The Lombard capital will reveal many things to you. Rent Apartments in Milan and enjoy your stay in this exquisite city.

The Last supper by Leonardo da Vinci

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Wednesday 3 February 2010 11:56 am

It is in Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan where one of the most enigmatic paintings in the history of art is on display: The Last Supper (1495-1498) by Italian Renaissance genius, Leonardo da Vinci. Despite being a biblical theme, it intrigues us more than La Gioconda, as it is a work that inspires fiction, historians and leaves many a spectator fascinated. Leonardo captures in this painting a crucial moment in the life of Christ, the very moment in which he states: “One of you shall betray me”.

last-supper-davinci

The expressions on the apostle’s faces are amazing: each reacts differently to this statement, something that is noticed by the grimaces and gestures of the hands. From left to right, we can recognize four groups of three apostles and at the centrre of the table, separated from the others, Jesus Christ. On one side we see Bartholomew, James the Less and Andrew, Judas Iscariot with black hair and a beard, Simon Peter and John, Thomas , James, and Philip, Matthew, Thaddeus and Simon the Zealot. The twelve are gathered around the table to share the bread and wine of the Last Supper of Christ, where he announces the forthcoming betrayal of one of them. Each one wonders if it’s them or not and are anxious. The Catholic Church considers this dramatic moment as the institution of the Eucharist.

One of the enigmas of this masterpiece is the hand that appears between Simon and John, and seems to come from nowhere. There are also questions as to the character of John, who looks female; a figure reminiscent of the Mona Lisa. This painting has been restored seven times since the technique used was not one of the best. One of the restorations however, lasted 21 years!

We can not reveal all the secrets and interpretations contained in this giant painting (460 cm x 880 cm) as throughout history new readings and new details have been found. The symbolism of the characters has never really been understood and it appears to be an inexhaustible source of mystical meanings.

If you want to discover a few more secrets about this fascinating piece of artwork, travel to Milan but please book in advance because not more than twenty people at once are allowed to see the painting and once in the room you can not stay for more than ten minutes. Each year, around 300,000 people do get to visit it, however. Leonardo was a genius of painting, mathematics, engineering, nature, perspective, architecture and sculpture. Visit the Last Supper and take advantage of the charm of the city. If you rent apartments in Milan, you are guaranteed a pleasant and worthwhile stay.

Facebook, Your Life in Pictures

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Wednesday 27 January 2010 12:25 pm

Social Network services, could you imagine your life without them? Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook, Hi5, MySpace, Hyves or LinkedIn, we are addicted to them. It’s a great way of keeping in touch with family and friends; we post sweet messages on their walls and proudly upload our holiday pictures so others can comment on them. We think nothing of throwing names, photos and birthdates of our children online and through our status updates we let the world know what we are doing 24 hours a day. But some recent newspaper articles have shown that nothing goes on without consequences…

Facebook

Less than a week ago some furious Facebook users phoned the police when they saw the photo which a teenage mom posted to her profile. It showed her 6 month old baby with an (unlit) cigarette in his mouth. The 18 year old from Essex (UK) probably thought it was funny, but now faces a visit from social services.

If you and I should think twice about certain things, that certainly goes for celebs. And even more so if your name is Katie Price (better known as Jordan). She recently divorced pop singer Peter Andre, and had a big New Year’s Eve party at her house. There were a lot of guests, a lot of alcohol and Jordan’s children of 4 and 2 years old. Some party people posted photos on Facebook, which showed the toddlers in the background looking sleepy and confused as people around them were dancing and getting drunk. Later that night a fight broke out while the children were sleeping nearby. Jordan’s ex, Peter Andre, was furious when he found out and the glamour model now risks losing custody.

The story of Craig Lynch, who escaped from a prison in Suffolk (UK) in September 2009 is just as crazy. For more than 3 months he managed to stay out of the police’s hands, but he regularly kept on updating his Facebook status. He became very popular, having more then 1200 friends. On Christmas day, he posted a photo of himself with a turkey and the comment: “Wow, it really is Xmas. Ha, ha. I can’t believe I made it. **** the police.” He was captured two weeks later. Something similar happened to Lizzie Tams, who was free on bail and fled to France. She made arrangements through Facebook to meet her children at the airport in Nice. Unfortunately, the police was also monitoring her profile, who arrested her and put her on the first flight back to prison.

But luckily there are also some beautiful stories. In September 2009, an Australian who was on holiday on the Greek island of Mykonos found a camera on the beach. He created the Facebook group ‘Needle in a Haystack’, where he posted in order to contact the owner. It became a real buzz and more than 250.000 people joined. And two months later, he succeeded: the camera belonged to Marie, a girl from London who lost her camera during a vacation with friends.

With some common sense, a bit of responsibility and caution you have absolutely nothing to fear. But keep in mind that once you throw something on the internet, it is not so easy to control it. Of course, if you have some beautiful pictures from your last city trip, we’d love to see them. Italy for example. Rent the best apartments in Milan, and smile for the camera!

How to decorate your home by recycling

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Wednesday 20 January 2010 12:23 pm

You’ve just moved in to your new apartment. It doesn’t matter if you bought it (congratulations!) or if you’ve rented it, your wallet is probably empty right now and your bank won’t give you any other loans. Either way, your flat has just the basic furniture: kitchen, bed, a closet, some shelves… The table is so tiny that you only can use it for a romantic dinner, but forget about a dinner with some friends!

recycled-chairs

How might you improve the aspect of your apartment without spending too much money? Recycling! Reuse recyclable materials and you will obtain great results. I bet on the dinning room ceiling a solitary sad light bulb is hanging without any lampshade. Why not to rescue the broken lamp from the previous flat? Take advantage of the old wiring and shade. You can also collect empty water bottles, and with a bit of patience convert them into original lamps. You just have to cut the top and the bottom and make a hole for passing the cable. Buy some nice paper, wrap the bottle and … done! The only investment is the bulb, which should be an energy efficient light bulb of course.

Light is very important, and now you have a more welcoming atmosphere, what else is missing? A real table and a sofa! You have noticed that the people upstairs are renovating and that they are changing the doors… Ask if they can give you an old one. Remove the handle, get two cheap easels, paint it and you will have a beautiful new table. To a get a comfortable sofa you don’t have to spend too much money either. To find a few pallets is easy enough: they will serve as a basis. Then you only will need to find a mattress (ask an aunt or a friend if they have an old one that they don’t use) and use it for the couch.

In general, any plastic container can be reused for other functions: some may serve as planters. Paint some tomato cans and transform them into very original pencil cases and you can use the windows as picture portraits…

Now that you have some ideas on saving money, why not reinvest it in a trip to somewhere nice? Have you always dreamed of going to the capital of Italian design? With the savings, you can buy a cheap plane ticket and rent cheap  Milan apartments. Perhaps the trip will give you new ideas for your creations!

How to declare your love and not die in the process

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Tuesday 5 January 2010 11:18 am

We know, it is extremely difficult to declare one’s love to somebody: your hands tremble, you stutter, you don’t know where to fix your eyes… Our nerves can play tricks on us when we declare our love! But hey, what have you got to lose? What’s the worst thing that could happen? Do you fear rejection or a negative answer? Take it with a pinch of salt, after all, nothing ventured, nothing gained as the saying goes. Learning to assume your defeats will make you grow as a person. What if the response is positive? The uncertainty can be even more devastating than an unwanted response.

boy-declaring-his-love

If you are truly in love, the best way to declare your love to somebody is by doing nothing. You don’t understand anything, do you? What we mean is that you have to let things flow. If you both like each other, everything will fall into place by itself. Look at his/her eyes with yours, dedicate him/her smiles, pay him/her a compliment and flirt! If the other person follows the game, he/she is probably interested in you. There will appear a magic moment in which one of the two should steal a kiss: just close your eyes and let yourself go for what you feel. This is the perfect love declaration because sometimes, words can fail us.

If, however, you are someone who would never, under any circumstances declare your love to your beloved one, whether out of shyness, fear or respect, it is better to let him / her to take the initiative.

Are you a romantic? You can always declare with the oldest methods. Poems and love letters are two great classics: although the letters are old-fashioned these days, new technologies offer new ways to send original love postcards by e-mail or nice sms text messages to the mobile phone of your loved one. And if you have written the text, much better! Sometimes Internet messages are too cheesy and full of clichés. Try to be natural and show your feelings openly, without falling into excesses.

If you are a boy and have an eye for detail, giving flowers and chocolates is another classic way to declare your love. If you’re a girl, leave him speechless buying him two tickets to go to a football match of his favourite team together! The fine details are always welcome and getting a date with the excuse of “I have something for you” will be much easier. Now you have opened the way to declare your feelings…

And now, Don Juan, go for it! The game of love has no rules! Each game is unpredictable and this is where the magic lies. How about declaring your undying love in the moonlight of an Italian city? Rent Milan Apartments and let the charm of the Lombard capital do the talking.

Impossible love, love that kills

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Thursday 31 December 2009 11:24 am

Romeo and Juliet is perhaps the most tragic impossible love story ever told: “Two households, both alike in dignity, (…) From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life; whole misadventured piteous overthrows. Do with their death bury their parents’ strife. The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love”. Cinema, music, literature… all forms of art has illustrated a thousand times the stories of impossible love. Unfortunately, it is not necessary to resort to fiction to find them. You just have to look around you: the world is full of lovers whose circumstances do not allow them to drift freely for what they feel.

romeo-and-juliet

Since the world began, the differences between humans have existed. We all are of different races, of different colours, of different social status, etc. And these differences are, precisely, those which destroy the hearts of two lovers that love each other like crazy. Otherwise, who does not know or has not heard in any occasion about the story of an impossible love because the girl was a gypsy and the boy a bumpkin? Or because the boy was black and the girl, white… It also happens when one belongs to a high sphere of society, and the other has a humble origin. But all of this should not be taken into account because if the love is real, the differences between lovers cease to exist.

What about the age? Can the love between two people with a big age difference produce fruit? Many people think that a lapse of 20 years is too much of a difference. If a girl of 20 is in love with a man of 40, people always think the worst. Her parents especially are the ones who strongly oppose this kind of relationship. But, what’s the problem? Does love need standards? When one falls in love, one does not choose whom, neither when, nor how … It just happens!

Sometimes the religion is also a problem. She, a Muslim, of a very traditional family, falls in love with a Christian. But how could it happen?! Her parents will never accept that she marries with a non-Muslim man, although the love they profess for each other is much stronger than their own religion. True love knows no boundaries.

“From this world-wearied flesh. Eyes, look your last! Arms, take your last embrace! And, lips, O you, the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss A dateless bargain to engrossing death!” Romeo and Juliet die because of their impossible love. It was a fatal outcome for a couple whose love seemed too great for everybody.

If you’ve ever fallen in love, you should know how much force this sentiment that ignores races, ages, cultures or religions has. Maybe because of that people use to say that love is blind… Are you in love? Surprise your partner with a trip to Italy. Rent some fine Milan apartments and give free rein to your love. And remember, impossible love doesn’t exist!

Italian Futurists - Discover The Tabula Rasa of Milan

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Wednesday 23 December 2009 12:28 pm

They wanted to burn the museums, the libraries and to go to the streets to shout, to make noise, to recite senseless poems and to declare their opposition against the past. They are the Italian Futurists, a movement led by the fascist poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, whose message was the one of the modern era, of the industrial change which took place in the early twentieth century. They used machinery and the movement as progress symbols, denying everything that was synonymous with academics or with the past. The Futurist art had a violent and revolutionary attitude, more than any other avant-garde art movement.

umberto-boccioni

‘We intend to sing the love of danger, the habit of energy and fearlessness’, declares the first principle of the Futurist Manifesto published in the French newspaper Le Figaro, in 1909. Artists such as Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Luigi Russolo and Gino Severini were the most active in the futuristic scene. They loved painting cars, urban movements or horses, since the advent element as the electricity, the telephone, the aircraft and the cinema changed the outlook of the beauty: this was synonymous with speed and industrialization. These themes dominated the paintings, painted with violent colours, with angry and dynamic brushwork. The bustle of the city was illustrated by a loss of the spatial references and of the overloaded spaces. The art becomes the echo of the relationship between the man and the city.

The sculpture by Umberto Boccioni,  “Unique Forms of Continuity in Space” (1913 - see photo) is one of the most characteristic works as it entails the search for movement of shape and a powerful force that is so dear to the Futurists. Today it appears emblazoned on the twenty cent coins in Italy.

Literature, architecture, advertising, music, cinema and other arts were other ways of Futurism expression impregnated with this new spirit. They wrote onomatopoeia, which were recited aloud in multiple languages simultaneously, creating the most chaotic sounds ever invented: they reinvented language, making it warrior-like and nationalistic.

Antonio Sant ‘Elia and Mario Chiattone proposed in 1914 - the end of the movement, the first drawings of a modern city along with the Manifesto of the Futurist architecture, a blueprint for a utopian city, the New Town. They defend the iron and glass train stations and airplanes, the power plants and the elevators, etc. According to them, these were the symbols of a rejuvenation of the world.

The futuristic spirit will have its influence on later movements like Dadaism and Constructivism. Marcel Duchamp inspired the attitude of the tabula rasa, a Latin phrase that illustrates the action of not taking into account past events. Travel to Milan, the birthplace of this amazing art movement: to enjoy the city, rent Milan apartments, they are cheap and very comfortable!

Sex and drugs – a cool lifestyle or your death sentence?

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Thursday 10 December 2009 11:25 am

Just about everyone has tried some kind of drugs in their life. Consuming drugs at the weekends, or even taking some drugs at home every day has unfortunately become something very normal. Although drugs can help you to loose shyness and fear and feel free at parties regarding sexual behaviour, they have a real negative influence. Also, the stimulating effects of drugs have their limits and each kind of drug abuse can put you straight on the highway to hell. So, be aware of that!

sex-and-drugs

Marihuana, cocaine, hashish, amphetamines, heroin, ecstasy, alcohol…the list of different types of drugs is already known, but not so the negative effects they have on our sex life. First you smoke a joint and have a beer in a relaxing atmosphere at home, then you go for some drinks with your friends in a pub and later you’ll end up in a club or a discotheque. Although you almost can’t keep your eyes open, your whole body is moving on at a continuous pace without stopping and you find yourself in a kind of trance, just like sex. True or false?

Whether for your nervous system or your libido, excessive drug-taking is just unhealthy. A lot of people think that drugs have similar effects like aphrodisiacs but, in contrast to chocolate and ginger, drugs leave noticeable traces in your body. The negative effects on the long term or in the case of drug addiction are very extensive, starting with sexual appetence to problems of having an orgasm or getting an erection. Furthermore, due to losing our inhibitions, the danger of sexually transmitted diseases rises constantly. You always should be in your right mind and use your head. Losing control of yourself through drugs will be your own death sentence. Do you really want to stink of beer, have red pot-smoker eyes or just be dumb because of too much of hashish?

“Take the best orgasm you’ve ever had… multiply it by a thousand, and you’re still nowhere near it.” says the main actor in Trainspotting. For getting into a state of trance, it isn’t necessary to take unnatural and unhealthy drugs. Everyone is undoubtedly more seductive and irresistible without the use of drugs. Passion, erection and orgasm can be your best friend: discover your own body and that of your partner. It would be very sad if you were not able to enjoy an erotic paradise without taking drugs, wouldn’t it?

Most people try drugs for the first time just because they are curious. The most important thing is to know how to keep control and don’t fall into excessive drug-taking. However, nothing substitutes good sex, am I right or am I right?

If you want to improve your sex-life a little bit, what about a passionate chocolate fondue, striptease, tantric sex or romantic holidays with your partner? Of course, there is no more sensual destiny other than Italy. The country of ‘Ti voglio bene’ (I really like you) doesn’t only sound tempting, but it can also pamper you with an incredible state of trance. Diet desserts that you don’t put on weight with

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Thursday 26 November 2009 4:58 pm

Is it possible to celebrate a birthday or a New Year without a dessert that is accompanied by champagne? At a party, a dessert is not to be left out! Unfortunately, this tradition is often contrasted with our obsession with dietary requirements and with the bathroom scales. However, the expert nutritionists tell us that a piece of cake is not a mortal sin if we eat a healthy and balanced diet. And don’t forget to do some physical exercise that helps us to burn off those unwanted calories! The experts also warn us about the “danger” of a dessert also depends on the type of sugar it contains. We don’t have to always associate calories with desserts: there are also desserts and sweets suitable for strict diet regimes - say hello to diet desserts.

diet-desserts

Now we’ll show you how we can improve our daily lives by satisfying our sweet tooth without having to experience terrible feelings of guilt, trying to resist the croissant in the baker’s shop every morning. The secret lies in the ingredients! There are also little tricks that can help us.

If we want to prepare a cake for a birthday, we can choose an apple pie with dough made from oil instead of butter, and leave the cream for another occasion. Yogurt, the diet jams (with sweeteners and without sugar) and above all, fruit are ingredients that will allow you to prepare diet desserts worthy of a chef.

A good example is pears with cinnamon and a bit of bitter cocoa. You just have to cook the pears with a bit of sweetener and then powder them with cinnamon and cocoa. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Another dessert that everyone loves is the Italian tiramisu. Replace one of its basic ingredients, the mascarpone, with non-fat yogurt: no need to stress here that calories are significantly reduced!

When preparing the dessert, pay attention on choosing non-fat ingredients rich in proteins. Use skimmed milk or eggs and avoid butter. If you love candies, sweets and cakes, but do not like to cook them, try to convince your local baker to make diet sweets. A last suggestion: if possible, it’s better to eat sweets in the morning and in small doses.

To discover new diet dessert recipes, travel to Italy and discover its delicious gastronomy. Discover the charming city of Milan and taste all its intense flavours! And for the best accommodation, just rent Apartments in Milan and enjoy everything else!

Rome vs Milan, a tale of two Italian cities

Posted by milanblogger | milan | Thursday 19 November 2009 1:30 pm

AC Milan vs. AS Roma is much more than football. As in many Mediterranean countries, the two Italian cities enjoy a unique and passionate character. With a vast range of cultural and leisure activities, one finds it difficult to choose where to spend the holidays, whether in Milan or Rome. Opponents, let’s begin!

milan-shopping

Let’s start with the cultural offerings of each city, which represent great importance in the tourist sector. In this case the Italian capital is the winner without a doubt. Although Milan offers amazing museums, including the famous Brera Pinocateca (Italian art from the fourteenth century to the twentieth century) or the prestigious Poldi Pezzoli Museum (with masterpieces by Sandro Botticelli, Antonio Pollaiolo, Giovanni Bellini), Rome wins this round, because the whole city is considered an oudoor museum. The Eternal City is full of history and offers you a wide variety of museums – many of them are the most important in Europe. Do not miss a visit to the Vatican Museums (the largest art collection of the Roman Catholic Church) or the National Gallery of Modern Art (with works by Vincent Van Gogh, Wassily Kandinsky or Piet Mondrian), to the Borghese Gallery and other wonderful museums.

After having visited all these museums, why not rest a bit in one of the stunning parks of the cities? Both Milan and Rome offer places that are havens of relaxation and wellbeing. Whether in the Sempione Park, in the Forlanini park, in the Lambro Park, the Naviglio Pavese Park in Milan, the Villa Borghese gardens or in the Villa Ada Park or Botanical Garden in Rome, you can relax in both cities: this is the perfect option to forget your daily problems and all the stress of everyday life. In this category both cities tie.

But what other things stand out in the tourist destinations? For example, the festivals. While the prestigious International Rome Film Festival has awarded great actors such as Sean Connery, Sophia Loren and Al Pacino, Milan will win in this category: the famous Fashion Week turns Milan into the most important city for 7 whole days where the most famous designers show their new collections. Victory for Milan!

The list of comparisons can be endless. Which is better? Why don’t you discover it for yourself? You can start by visiting Milan. Rent Apartments in Milan and enjoy a comfortable stay in Italy!
